Activate & manage your licence
Activate a Pro or Agency key under Settings → Licence, check your plan and sites, free a site, and see what happens when a licence ends or cannot be checked.

A licence key unlocks the Pro or Agency features on a site. You activate it under Uncoder → Settings → Licence, once per site. The same screen shows your plan, how many sites use the key, when it renews, and lets you free the site for another one.
Only administrators see Settings → Licence. With white-label Only me turned on, only the administrator who set it sees it. See White-label.
Activate a key
Copy your key
Find it in the email you got with your purchase, or in your account on uncoderbuilder.com. It looks like
UNC-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. Lost it? Click Lost it? Get it by email under the field. See Lost your licence key?Open Settings → Licence
In WordPress, go to Uncoder → Settings and click Licence in the list on the left.
Paste it and activate
Paste the key into Licence key and click Activate. A message confirms Pro licence activated on this site (or Agency), and the card title shows your plan.
Activating sends the key, your site's address, its WordPress environment type and your Uncoder version to uncoderbuilder.com, so the licence can count your sites. Nothing about your content or your visitors is sent.
Read the licence card

| Last checked | When the site last checked the licence. Click Check now to check right away, for example after renewing. |
| This site | Deactivate on this site frees this site's place on the licence. See Free a site. |
Below it, What a licence unlocks lists the paid features: a check mark for each one your licence covers, and a Pro or Agency badge for the others. Without a key, the card has a See the plans link and the Licence key field.
Sites and the site limit
A Pro licence covers 3 live sites, an Agency licence any number. Each site where you activate the key counts once, however many times you activate it there.
Local and staging copies never count. Uncoder treats a site as a copy when:
- it runs on your own computer:
localhost, an IP address, or an address that ends in.local,.testor.localhost - its address starts with
staging.,stage.,dev.,test.,preview.or a similar word - it is a staging address of a common host or tunnel service, such as WP Engine, Kinsta, Pantheon, Flywheel, Cloudways, InstaWP or ngrok
- its WordPress environment type is set to local, development or staging
On such a copy, the Sites row says This site counts as a staging or local copy: it does not use a site of the licence.
When all the sites of a Pro licence are in use, activating on a fourth site shows This licence is already active on all its sites. Free a site you no longer use, then try again.
Free a site
Freeing a site gives its place on the licence back, for example when you move a client to their own licence or retire an old site. The site keeps everything you built; the paid features lock there until you activate a key again.
On the site
- On the site you want to free, open Uncoder → Settings → Licence.
- Click Deactivate on this site and confirm.
The key is removed from that site and its place is free right away.
In your account
- Sign in to your account on uncoderbuilder.com (opens in a new tab).
- Under Sites, click Remove next to the site and confirm.
Use this when the old site is gone or you cannot log in to it any more.
Moved a site to a new address?
A licence belongs to the address of the site. After you move a site to a new domain, the card shows This licence cannot be used on this site. Click Enter another key, paste the same key and click Activate. The new address counts as a site of its own, so free the old address in your account.
Use another key
To change keys, for example after an upgrade to Agency:
- If the licence is active, click Change key next to the key, paste the new key into New licence key and click Activate. The old key stops using a site here, so its place is free for another site. Cancel keeps the current key.
- If the card shows a problem, such as an ended licence, click Enter another key in the message, paste the new key and click Activate.
When a licence ends
A yearly licence ends when it is cancelled and its paid year is over. A refund also ends it. The card then says Your licence ended on … with Renew and Enter another key.
Your sites never break when a licence ends. Everything you built, imported or set up keeps working. Only new paid actions stop:

| Branded reports | Report links you sent keep working. New reports and branding changes need a licence again. |
| Priority support | Ends with the licence. |
To use the paid features again, renew or buy a new licence and activate its key. See Renewals.
If the licence cannot be checked
Each site checks its licence once a day. If uncoderbuilder.com cannot be reached, nothing changes: the licence keeps working for 30 days after the last successful check. Last checked shows when that was.
After 30 days without a successful check, the card says The licence could not be checked for a while and the paid features pause for new actions, like an ended licence. As soon as a check succeeds, everything unlocks again. Click Check now to try.
If checks keep failing, your server may block outgoing connections. Ask your host to allow connections to uncoderbuilder.com.
Messages and what to do
