Safe mode
Load the builder with only Uncoder and a default theme, just for you, to find out whether another plugin or your theme causes a problem.
If the builder does not load, stays on a spinner or behaves oddly, another plugin or your theme may be interfering. Safe mode opens the builder with only Uncoder active and a default WordPress theme, just for you, in your current browser. If the problem is gone in safe mode, you know it comes from something else, and you can find out what.
Visitors and other editors see the site exactly as usual while safe mode is on.

Turn safe mode on
Open Tools
Go to Uncoder → Settings → Tools and find the Safe mode card.
Turn it on
Turn on Safe mode. The card now says it is on in this browser.
Open the builder again
Open the page that had the problem with Edit with Uncoder. The builder and its canvas now run without your other plugins and with a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Five.
Safe mode applies only to the builder, its preview and Uncoder's own requests, and only in the browser where you turned it on. The rest of wp-admin and the public site are not affected.
Because the canvas uses a default theme in safe mode, pages may look different in the editor, for example without your theme's fonts. That is expected.
Find the cause
If the problem is gone in safe mode, a plugin or your theme conflicts with Uncoder:
- Turn safe mode off.
- Go to Plugins and deactivate your other plugins one by one (on a staging copy, if you can), opening the builder after each one.
- When the problem disappears, the plugin you just deactivated is the cause. If no plugin is the cause, try a default theme under Appearance → Themes.
- Reactivate everything else, and tell the plugin's or theme's author, or Uncoder support, what you found. Add the System info report.
If the problem is still there in safe mode, it is not a conflict. Check the Troubleshooting page, for example for server limits, and contact support with the System info report.
Turn safe mode off
Go back to Settings → Tools and turn off Safe mode. Safe mode also switches itself off after a day, and when Uncoder is deactivated.
Good to know
- If the card says safe mode is On for another browser or user, someone else turned it on. It does not affect you. Turning it off ends it for them too.
- Safe mode needs to write a small helper file into your site's
wp-content/mu-pluginsfolder. If that folder is not writable, the card says so and the switch is disabled. Ask your host, or test on a staging site.
